I have learned a ton of lessons since 2013. Here’s everything I have learned to launch a successful product or a major feature in SaaS.
- Launch early is outdated.
- Quality is non-negotiable. Don’t ship until the product was bug-free.
- Answer: Do you miss the feature when you don’t use it for a week?
- Only get early adopters early.
- Don’t try to pursue users who left since they did not like the product.
- Tract only one vanity metric → For example: for Knowledge Base, number of new articles was a metric.
- Create flywheels → For example: after creating a new board, make it easy to share it with people.
Deciding Flywheels
For featureOS
- Invite customers → Make it easy. More feedback, more usage. More feedback = more value for money.
- CTA for signed out users → In the feedback portal, hover over Powered by featureOS to show a popup to create new org.
- Share feedback boards → Make it super easy. Connects to Flywheel #1 here.
- Referrals → Provide a referral button so that exiting PMs can share featureOS with their customers.
